Fire Rescue Station No. 1 was constructed at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, CT. The design and materials used were in strict compliance with CT-DOT specifications and the unique requirements of fire fighting and rescue at a major airport.
The facility is 20,000 sq, ft. comprising (3) drive-thru high-bays for apparatus, and two stories containing equipment support, offices, training, and living facilities.
The structure is supported by a structural steel frame, and enclosed by a concrete block exterior. The roof is an EPDM membrane. In addition to all the equipment routinely required for fire stations, this facility provides a 10,000 gallon water reservoir and pump for rapid recharging of trucks. A full foam fire-fighting system is also provided.
