This facility is a 5,400 SQ FT earth covered “Type-C” magazine, built to comply with the storage and handling requirements of MK-48 torpedoes. All of the material produced during the demolition of the existing magazines was sorted, processed, and crushed on site by LBG’s staff, to specifications approved by the team’s engineers. This allowed the reuse of 100% of this material as sub-base for remaining site work below roadways and aprons. This not only saved costs, but dramatically reduced the number of truck export / import trips necessary, reducing traffic on base.
